I got mine for $25 bucks each... . They where military take outs that I bought from the local battery recycle guy. He gets them for free. The story goes like this. . the military mechanics replace a battery if the truck will not start, or if they kill it trying to start it and those batteries never get recharged, they get recycled. Yes its true the military does not have a batter charger, they replace them. Mine where both charged for 6 hours and then load tested to 1200 apms and held there 13v for 2 minutes... all good.



Another thing to remember, if you run red tops you need to cut down the battery hold down bolt on the drivers side by the fender. If you don't it will stick down and rub the wad of wires under the battery box and short it all out. I put mine all the way in, marked it and left about 1/2 inch past the mark to screw into the nut.

Thanks JR2, I hadn't heard about cutting the bolt down. I bought mine at Advance Auto parts for +/- $100 each, not on sale about a month or so ago. I've had a couple cold starts (down below freezing) and was amazed at the difference from the old oem batts.

I know this is a dumb question but here goes. Can I use the same battery for my 97 jeep. It still has the original bat and I think I should replace it before winter hits, and that is a good price.

Ordered mine on Wednesday. The sales rep I talked to told me about the backorder thing also, so I "splurged" the extra $3 and got the side and top post model. They'll be at my door step on Monday or Tuesday. Thanks for the tip, Y-knot.

Anyone received their batteries yet?

A friend ordered some the first day this thread started almost two weeks ago. So far no batteries. When I've ordered from Summit before items were always here in less than a week.

Mr. moderator, did they not mention about them being backordered for 2-3 weeks. I'm sure you'll get them Summit has never let me down and I've been buying stuff from them for years !!

I ordered mine last Monday morning (9/29). They arrived Wed. afternoon (10/1). Don't know which warehouse they were shipped from. Excellent service. Installed them this past weekend. Make a big difference from the OEM's.

So what is difference between the red and yellow tops that Optima offers??? To see that Optima is selling these so cheaply makes me want to go buy a couple even though I don't need them as of yet!!

Are the ones with the top mounts and the sides mounts vibration resistent becuase it does not say on the info for it. The top mounts only does say that it is vibration resistent.
