I need some warranty work (oil leak) on my 2001 H. O. and am looking for recommendations (or condemnations!) of dealer service departments in the seven county metro Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I know this job probably doesn't require a rocket scientist, but I know some service departments and/or mechanics are more competent than others. Just want it done right the first time with no screwups or excuses. Any advise will be sincerely appreciated.

I have been to several...

I have delt with several and have some info for you.

Walser Dodge in Bloomington is ok, only if you deal with Keith. I go there because I work for a different dealer owned by the same company, so I get a deal on parts and labor, (being out of warranty that matters) if I did'nt have that connection, I would probably go somewhere else though. I have delt with several of the service advisers there and only will deal with Keith. There techs seam to be as good as the next and have never screwed up any work on my truck. They have gotten a lot better in the 3 years I have been dealing with them, watch out for their slow, rude parts department though.

Belzers did not get done what I asked (the cold weather/high idle enable) for that matter walser could not do it either. I ended up borrowing the computer from a former Chrysler tech and doing it myself in his driveway in 30 seconds time. Belzers was real rude about what I wanted and did not have any customer skills. They have a huge new shop and maybe have a better outlook toward the customers.

Burnsville Dodge seams good, I have had good experiences there and would go back.

Hopkins dodge has been recomended to me, but I live on the south end of the cities, so I never went there.

Let me know where you go and how it turns out. Are you going to the MNTDR get together next week? We have the same truck, it would be cool to get them together.

Personally,

I bought my truck from Dodge of Burnsville, and I'd never set foot on that place again. I've never had a more negative experience at a dealership. I found a truck they had there, and decided to buy it, but I would highly recommend Trail Dodge in West St. Paul on Robert St. Ask for Tom Malone. They are VERY customer orientated.

By the way, I live in south Metro also. Maybe I'll run across you guys at the MN get-together!!

Thanks for al the advice guys. So far it looks like we have a thumbs up for Walzer (Bloomington), Hopkins and Trail Dodge (West St. Paul) and a thumbs down for Belzers. Interestingly, Burnsville got both a positive and negative review. I bought my truck (a factory build-to-order) at Hopkins and was happy with the price and sales department, but have not had any experience with their service dept. They are close to me and it would be convenient to use them, but I am willing to go anywhere within reason. West St. Paul would be OK too. I will let you know where I decide to take it and how good (or bad ) the service is (was).

Blaine Dodge has a pretty good rep. I was there once and had no reason to be disappointed.

Mark H. (big) at Forest Lake Dodge is a good mechanic he has fixed a couple of leaks for me.

If its not a warranty issue you might want to give Torque Diesel in Elk River a call. Tim is a good guy who is hosting a meet on May 8.
