Truck Build Time

In case anyone ever wondered about the time it took to build their truck I called Detroit to see how long it took. I was told that it takes 10 hours to go from one end to the other end of the assembly line for a 3500 Diesel 4x4 quad-cab. Man I wish I could see just what a mark up was on a vehicle that cost 40-45,000 dollars not including the tax or yearly % were paying on the loan. But I was told if you can build it do it yourself and save a few bucks. :--)

I like to be there the day they were building mine as a hardcore inspector. I would probally hold the line up longer than 10 hours. :-laf

I've heard there can be 20,000 parts in a vehicle (fasteners, etc. ).



Always wondered which of the parts you could buy for $1. 00 (if the vehicle cost $20K)

I have move cars from dealer to dealer when their is a dealer locate,Usually both dealer discuss what they have in inventory,than swap. They send a check for each vehicle swap. I have seen vehicles with $40. 000. 00 window stickers and the check was $30. 592. 00. dealer invoice is not true cost,their is many combinations that effect the actual cost, Supply,demand,dealer consignment,credit. etc.

It was reported a While back on the news that Ford makes 10,000. 00 to 15,000. 00 PROFIT off EACH Expidition and Lincoln Navigator it sells... ... ...
