I am ready for tires before winter. I want to get the Nitto 285-75/17s for my truck. I thought I might need a 9 inch rim instead of the stock 8 inch. I DON'T want the wheels to stick a mile out of the wheel wells. I WOULD like them to look stock in ofset but not rub on the inside.
Picky picky I am! :-laf
What offset for a 9in width do I need to not have the wheels rub inside AND not stick out much if any.
Any guys with pictures of their wheels???

I've got that exact size tire on my stock rims. No rub anywhere. They are wearing a bit prematurely do to overinflation. They've had 60-65 psi in them from birth. Next set it'll be 55psi. The Toyo AT version of this tire is so strong, higher inflation is unnecessary for my use. A set of Hummer II 17 x 8. 5 are a good compromise also.

315/70/17 is what i would recomend rough nice look. .

sadly abit expensiv to the stocker if i dont remember wrong its

what hummer use for stock so you could find cheap hummer rims with rubber on

if you are talking about the terra grapplers I have that size on national backorder right now, no one can get them same goes for the toyo at. the 285/75 17 e rated is a rare size, not to many companys make the 34 in tire. i plan to put mine on stock wheels, you will be fine. let me know if you find them in stock anywhere.

Just bought a set of Hankook RTM-10 E rated 295/70R17. Been happy with them so far. Always ran BFG's AT these are quieter. I am sitting at stock height (4x4) and my new MKW M19's are a 8. 5 x 17 with a backspace off 4. 5. That is 2" different than the factory. I don't have a rub. The 315's would rub a little on my pocket flares, nothing a little pod lift would fix.

I believe the stock wheel offset is 6. 25" and they are 8" witdth. That means you would need to have an offset of 7. 25" on a 9" rim to keep it the same. I don't think you would rub with 285's but would not want to go much larger. Like I said previously I went with a 8. 5" wide wheel with a offset of 4. 75". By my calculations that will make it stick out 2" more than factory, which is perfect for the pocket flares. I am still at the stock height.

I am running Toyo MTs because the ATs were on perpetual backorder. I've not had any rubbing issues.

You always think of a Japanese company being on top of things, but this long backorder situation with Nitto and especially Toyo raises doubts about that theory. Toyo's lost so much biz over this.

Thanks ... . The offset is what I was looking for. Nice flares. Got a picture of the truck with them installed? Thanks

Thanks... . Any body/paint rubbing issues where the flares meet the body? Any Death wobble issues with the wider stance?

I haven't noticed anything yet. I did notice my wheel jostles (very slight) at any speed. My wifes Maxima does the same thing. I can't remember if it did it before I changed tires or not. As far a paint/body issues go, there isn't any. I am very happy with the flares. Any regard I am getting a DSS put on it next week. My last truck ('01) went through 4 steering gears after I put 315's on. It went through 0 and 100k miles after the DSS and 03 trackbar conversion was done to it.
