Guys,

What should I do? Been checking prices and all I have found so far are well over $400 :-{}

PM me if'n you happen to have specifics like price and name of vender.

I have been told the flex plate for a 92 is NOT compatable with the 94 and up model 47 transmission as well as they ARE the same thing. What do I look for in terns of plate compatability?

I was under the impression I could use a factory plate from a second gen model 47 trans and be good to go.

Thanks in advance.

I used the flex plate from a later model and it fit fine - can't remember the part number, but it's listed in the FAQ section. I picked it up from http://www.reliablegoods.com for less than $100 including shipping.

Personally, I couldn't see any difference between the flex plate that came off of my truck and the new one, but I didn't mic them to see if there was any measurable difference in thickness.

I came across a few in the TDR search under flex plates/1st Gen. Some are like really inexpensive and that concerns me too. I'm thinking I'll stay away from the low low priced units. Not that they be bad... . but I'm going to have to pull the transmission back and that's more of a job than replacing a set of bad spark plugs.

Updated Flex Plate

This is the part number for a 95 model. This is a direct bolt on for the 1st gens and should be used in place of the old part number for added durability especially on modified trucks.

Chrysler Part # 5015709 Price $295. 00

Cummins Part #3946161 Price $ 94. 22

I used one of these in Da House and it's woring well thus far. Ddn't appear to be any thing wrong with the old one, it was simply another one of those "while it's already apart, we might as well" kind of deals.

When I talked to PDR recently they had a flex plate that was twice as thick as stock for approx $150. Greenleaf, she's letting me use the "puter" for a "few minutes". Good luck, I intend to get one also. Hank

Thanks for the reply(s) and PM's. I luv testimonials :)

I called CAT and they for one don't speek my language (my Spanish ain't too good) and they are like REAL cheap, as in low low $$$. This too turned me off. I wanted to speak with someone running one AND in English (or German) and as it turned out, it was a no brainer... ... ... . after I called PDR Oo.

Thanks guys, very much! I'll feel better running one that fits and works fo' sure :D
