You didn't mention why you needed this info, so I'll add this.

A common problem is that the brake lights won't go off until you pull up real hard on the brake pedal. Of course, while the brake lights are on you can't activate the cruise control.

The cause of this is that the brake pedal has been pulled up too hard in the past. The cure is to take the switch off, pull the plunger all the way out, and then adjust it as per the shop manual. The plunger has a ratchet gizmo so it holds the correct adjustment position ... when the pedal is pulled up too hard, the plunger stays pushed in and the brake light stays on.

In my case, I had to take the brake light switch apart in order to pull the plunger out.

Doing this saves the cost of a new brake light switch.

I found out about the brake plunger detent by accident. AH. . Oh well... I might as well admit my stupid mistake. I few months ago my emergency brake pedal was broke. When the emergency brake pedal was pushed it had no resistance. Well I looked up under there and determined the brake pedal rachet mechanism was stuck or something and I figured I needed to remove it. I assumed it was not a bad emergency brake cable since I had replaced both sides about 2 years ago.

Well, if you haven't pulled the brake pedal mechanism or its the first time then you will find it not an easy thing to get that thing out where its bolted to the side of and under the dash. After getting it out it seemed not to be broke and after checking with NAPA it was a pricey dealer part.

I scratched my head and thought it might be worth checking the emergency brake cables under the truck and found the drivers side was slack. After removing the drivers rear wheels on my dually and pulling the drum I found..... you guessed it... . the emergency cable end that goes into the brake shoe emergency retractor thingy was broken. The end ball on the emergency cable that keeps it from sliding out of the bracket had broken off and thus I had a slack cable.

Now I had to re-assemble the emergency brake racket mechanism. I then had to get the manual out to figure out how to adjust the detent on the plunger.

That was a loooonnnnngggg nite trying to get that pedal assembly out and in again.

I felt pretty stupid for assuming and trying to fix something that was not broke. Then I had to put the wheels on, order a cable and a few days later we had emergency brakes again.

Ah... . Hum.
