Is it time for our leaders to step up to the plate and kill those (countries) that would kill us?



Or should we hope to make them our friends and hope they don't develop weapons of mass destruction in the meantime?



I believe it's long past time for us to STEP UP and do what needs doin'. I believe we need to take decisive military action NOW against the likes of Iraq, Iran, and ANY other Arab (or non-Arab) country that is willing to tolerate terrorist action against the rest of the world. I see the past and current terrorist events as a way for us to lose freedoms that we have fought and too many died for.



Yep, I'm a hawk. It's time to go get a big ole can of WHUP A$$ off the cubbard shelf, open it up and use it!!

As President Bush stated on around 9/12 or so to the world, "your either with us or your not" (in so many words). I hole hartedly agree with this and hope he sticks to it. I also agree with you Toadstomper, it's time to open up a Paul Bunyon sized can!

I also agree, and have been wishing for action for quite some time. However, I think with all the political correctness, and bleeding hearts we have in this country, it won't ever happen.



I hope I'm wrong, and we get big can 'o whoop out, dust it off, and show them WHY we won't take they're ***** anymore.

Well guys why don't you stop beating around the bush and come out and say what you mean Terorism is by deffinition "without rules" - are we ready to suspend our deffinition of warfare and do what needs to be done to let these people know we are serious? Although I have my doubts I do feel if we are to survive we had better be ready to make the hard decisions necessary for our continued existance. It will come down to them or us. Why waste time waiting for their next strike -makes no sence to me. You all have my vote.

Normally I don't say to much on this type of thread cause I generally end up making myself sound like an idiot. But I just have to put my 2 cents worth in.

I too think we are long overdue to thump someone, who ever it may be. Seeings as how most of you are over the age to serve, have alwready served or have no intentions of serving in our Armed Services. I just want to say, are you guys thinking of those who are on the tip of the spear? It's easy to say "shoot em all and let God sort them out" but it's not you that's doing the shooting. Our view of war is that of a video game. Clean and sterile. Our conflicts for the last 15 years have spoiled us. Our fathers and grandfathers and some of you on this board know what the real meaning of war is. You were in the Vietnam , Korea conflicts and WWII. We have all forgotten what it takes to "kill the terrorists", it is the future of our country, our sons and now, daughters, and they will do it willingly. Just be sure that the cause is just and right.

And once again it didn't really come out like I wanted it to but you guys get the idea.

However, with the modern technology, and the air strikes our forces are capable of, I just figure, no ground troops, or minimal at best. Then again, who am I to say. Just MO

Rob, that has been the problem of past Excursions into these countries, we used precision weaponry on an inprecise problem. If you really want to take care of the problem, you have to take over the country inch by inch and ensure you take out all aggressors along the way or you will have the same problem returning over and over again..... I personnaly am in favor of nuking that whole damned area and being done with it. We need more parking space anyway.

I served during Desert Storm/Shield... I was just finishing up my training when it ended, it ended 2 weeks before I was scheduled to go.

I have a son in harm's way as well as several other family members! I also have been in harm's way! Now it is our civilians!!

I did not "serve any time" in Canada during the time this country was fighting in Vietman.

War is not sterile. Smart weapons, no matter how smart, when it blows up, there will be a mess. Video games are just that - games. Surely, grown men know the difference.

If we don't deal with terrorist NOW- using their current rules of engagement, we will be NUKIN' it out with 'em later.

We will not only be dealing with Iraq, but most likely the entire Arab world to some degree.

War is messy and very unpleasent. People, lots of them, are going to die. Civilian murder by homicide bombers, crashing aircraft into population centers, or any other terrorist action CAN NOT be tolerated. It will only escalate. That is why, in my opinion, that we should attack, and with such fury that our enemies will never forget!

It IS easy for me to say "Shoot 'em all". I believe God will sort it out.

Bombing, even with "smart" bombs, doesn't get it. Take a lesson from WWII. Even after a long campaign with tons and tons of bombs Germany still had to be taken by ground troops. My father-in-law was a gunner on a bomber. He says we blew up a lot more spuds and cabbages than we did war plants. It's a BIG decision to send in troops for sure, but I think we are going to have to do that sooner or later. Better sooner. Should have taken out Sadam the first time! Bombing didn't hurt him.



I served during the early days of Viet Nam, but I didn't get sent over there. Just lucky I guess.

I am all for the destruction of terrorism in any form. Let me pose a question " Who is the enemy?" . The people that flew the airliners into the WTT? Most of them were from Saudi, which if I am not mistaken is our allie? Some were from Egypt? One from Oman. The list goes on and not one one was from Iraq. So who do we go after? Everybody who is Muslim? All this empty talk is just that, empty talk. We are facing an ememy that is worldwide and has NO boundries. It is an idea. There are ten year olds in Palestine right now who are wanting to be suicide bombers! Israel is up to its armpits and trying to fight it the same way you suggest. Is it working, have they stopped the bombings yet?



The real facts of it all are that no matter how many countrys over there we save, sooner or later they will turn against us again. It is a problem not that easily solved, wish it was. War is not something to jump into lightly, been there, done that. We are finally getting our intel up to a decent level, these idiots are in our sights. Let em take the shot when they are ready. It is just fine to sit on our duffs and make sounds of war, but the warriors that are going to put their lives on the line are our children and Grandchildren. I don't want them to give their lives in vain. It is done way to often to my likeing... ... ... .

Yes, I'm also too old to serve, but I did back in the early 70's. Every time I think of all of the people who died on 9/11 in makes my blood boil!



If the government would allow me to fight, I'd go in a heart beat! 9/11 is all the motivation I'll ever need!!!

Trust me guys, we are not going to do anything until they knock the **** out of us again. Then the liberal pigs will cry that we should turn the other cheek and we will take it in the shorts again. Then maybe after a couple of more attacks and some of the liberals get their homes blownup and lose loved ones we will then do what we should of done a long time ago. This country is way to politically correct to do the things that need to be done to protect the majority of the citzens. So my advice is to head for the country and maybe you won't be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Your a smart man, I just hope that being in the Ozarks is far enough in the boondocks to be half way safe.
