Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Warm High Idle

The past few times I've taken a road trip I've noticed an oddity in my truck. here's the scenario. After driving at highway speeds for an extended period of time, such as driving down the interstate on a road trip, I exit and/or come to a stop light. I've noticed that when I shift into neutral the idle speed is about 825 (the tick mark just below 1000 rpm). Once I come to a complete stop the truck then drops another 100 - 200 rpm. I can tell this by looking at the tach and also by the audible change in the motor. Anyone have any clue to the reason? Is this normal?

I don't know about your Y2K, but my '99 does this all the time. It high idles over 10mph and drops to normal below 10mph. I was told that it was a program thing to keep the power steering and brake power up.
