Just to warn everyone, aftermarket warranty companies are rarely worth the money you pay! I have The Penn Warranty and my truck is in the shop for the transmission which has to be pulled, torn down and diagnosed at MY expense (even though it is an electronic transmission which can be diagnosed with the proper scanner) then inspected by one of thier adjusters before they will make a decision on paying anything!!! And once that is done they reserve the right to SUPPLY a used transmission of like quality, meaning anything with 193k or less, or worse, just replace the bad parts in the transmission!!!!! Not all, just the bad ones!!!!! Even if they pay anything, the diagnostic is still out of pocket!

If you are thinking about a used truck and are offered one of these, SAVE YOUR MONEY, put the premium into a savings account and it will help cover any repairs you may encounter.

Chrysler is a gem for selling your info to "extended warranty" companies... I get one in the mail about every other day... most state "last chance before your warranty expires"...

If the warranty is through a dealer, then you are a little safer (like a chrysler extended warranty).

Got my truck from a used car lot. They recommended the warranty, said they are real good about paying, probably get a kick back.

I had an extended warranty on my '96 gas dodge. The transmission had a noise. AAMCO called my warranty company and they basically did whatever AAMCO wanted. Cost of Warranty: 900, cost of repair: 1900. Guess its a vendor specific thing...

Auto Warranty Tips

D/C warranty

On prior vehicles,I've actually had decent luck with aftermarket extended warranties. Depending on the luck I have with this '07 will determine if I purchase one for this vehicle. I have read posts where D/C will approach us buyers when we get near the expiration with a price for a D/C warranty. That's the only one I'll consider for this vehicle.

Update: transmission still hasn't been checked out by the warranty company! After that there is a 24-48 hour wait for them to respond with what they are going to do, so I will be out of a truck for at least another week!!!!!        #@$%!

OK, this morning I get a call from the warranty company asking me to fax my copy of the invoice from when the transmission pan was replaced in June! It had warped and was leaking. They say they need proof the work was done before going any further!#@$%! #@$%!

Now is where things get interesting! They made their decision, which consists of $995. 00, because that is the price they were able to find a used transmission for, plus 5. 1 hours labor which doesn't even cover the PUBLISHED shop time!!!! A stock rebuild comes in at just under $3000. 00! When I contacted The Penn Warranty Joanne the Adjustors exact words were "We are going to do what is most cost effective for us, not what is best for you. "#@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%! #@$%!
