Powerstrokes Are Not Powerjokes !

powerstroke vs. dmax (yes again, this is a sighting I enjoyed)

This legislation orders state bureaucrats to reduce greenhouse gases from California cars and trucks. It doesn’t say how. AB 1058 gives the California Air Resources Board a blank check to decide what you drive and how many miles you drive.

AB 1058 will limit your choice of vehicles. It really is an attempt to force Californians into smaller, less powerful cars. That’s not fair to low and middle income families and working Californians.

Tell them to STOP AB 1058 NOW!

“A recent (March 2002) joint report by CARB and the California Energy Commission offers some insights into several strategies to reduce gasoline consumption, and thereby reducing carbon dioxide:

• Another 50-cent-per-gallon increase in gasoline taxes.

• A two-cent tax on every mile driven for all passenger vehicles.

• Extra fees of $3,500 on minivans, light duty trucks, sport utility vehicles, and others to discourage consumers from buying them.

• Reduction of the speed limit to 55 miles per hour.

• Recommending new designs for vehicles and engines

To all,

I have never been so ticked off than I am now. I will no longer post any more info on this subject, but I would like to urge all California voters to pass on a form letter of protest to this Assembly Bill that is being "FAST TRACKED" to the govenor.

The following web site provides a means to let our voices be heard. Please take a minute and check it out!

Thanks for your support,

The Assembly-woman who introduced AB 1058 is Fran Pavley. She represents the 41st District, which is Tom Hayden's:rolleyes: old district. It includes Santa Monica and Topanga and parts of the San Fernando Valley.

Her office phone number is (310) 395-3414 or (818) 596-4141

We live in a representative democracy. Call her and tell her how you feel.

I did!:D

how pink?

How PINK is PA. ? Out here we are not very Pink at all! The Rocky Mts. are the Last stronghold of Freedom! Everyone(most of those with knowledge)knows that Commiefornia is Red!

Actually, the color of Ca. is becoming neither pink nor red...

This is from Pat Buchanan:

During the 1990s, the Latino population of Los Angeles County

soared 27 percent to 4. 2 million. The Asian population rose by 26

percent. But the African American population fell 3. 6 percent and the

White population shrank 18 percent. More than 3 million people of

Mexican ancestry now call Los Angeles County home. White folks are

fleeing California at a rate of 100,000 a year. Black folks are

following. La Reconquista is at hand. Well over half of Los Angeles

County residents ˆ 54 percent ˆ now speak a language other than

English in their homes, up from 45 percent in 1990.

What has happened to Los Angeles and Orange counties is happening now

to the Inland Empire. According to the Times, in the '90s, Orange,

Riverside, San Bernardino and Ventura countries experienced increases

of 36 percent to 70 percent in the number of foreign-born.

We are ceasing to be one nation and one people.

California problem

I am a Californian. Gray Davis, and most of the others in Sacramento have no business making laws like this. As you can see by the electricity problem, Davis and his buddies don't really have much good sence.

This is a real bad bill, as a big percentage of Californians can't afford new cars now, much less another $3500 tacked on.

A big problem is the high numbers of old cars with high exempt emmissions. As one writer wrote, if we cleaned out the LA basin, that would send a lot of these smog machines back to Mexico where they belong

You guys in other states ridiculing California - and thinking YOU are safe because you live elsewhere - are living in a fool's paradise...

The crap that goes down and gets passed HERE is the SAME blueprint that bleeds over into other states VERY quickly as they follow our miserable dictatorial lead. Be forewarned as you see how WE are getting raped in California, cuz YOU are next in line!:(

Watch it!

First of all this is a diesel board and the bill as quoted states "GASOLINE". Yes, I know it will probably include diesel later but, for now it's just the gassers who have to worry.

FL70CAT: Not to dump on you but; not all California residents are commies, just our government. And many of us are NOT liberal; except when it comes to diesel smoke, then it is applied VERY liberally.

Actually, the only reason we are still here is because we can't get to Arizona or Texas,

YET.

Most whites in Ca. are still conservative. It is the small amount of wacko-Dem-hippy-whites which attracts everybody's attention. But the reason all these Liberal Democrats are getting elected here, and pushing their agenda down all our throats is... Demographics. What follows is from Pat Buchanan, quoting a "demographics" study in the Liberal L. A. Times:

In just 10 years, During the 1990s, the Latino population of Los Angeles County soared 27 percent to 4. 2 million. The Asian population rose by 26

percent. But the African American population fell 3. 6 percent and the

"Anglo" population shrank 18 percent. More than 3 million people of

Mexican ancestry now call Los Angeles County home. White folks are

fleeing California at a rate of 100,000 a year. Black folks are

following. La Reconquista is at hand. Well over half of Los Angeles

County residents ˆ 54 percent ˆ now speak a language other than

English in their homes, up from 45 percent in 1990.

Is Los Angeles today America's tomorrow? How can it not be, when,

yearly, 1. 5 million legal and illegal immigrants arrive, 90 percent

of them from Third World nations where poverty is pandemic?

When more than half the people of Los Angeles County do not speak

English in their homes, do not listen to the same radio and TV

programs, do not read the same newspapers, magazines or books, do not

share the same heroes, history or holidays, can we really say we

Americans are still one people? What do we have in common with these

folks that makes us one nation?

Someone said this bill only said "gasoline", but as you said it was written by idiots in Sacramento, namely by a copy of Tom Hayden in his district.

To them anything that burns in a car is "gasoline". They have "O"

practical knowledge, so be forwarned, it probable means diesel too.

I just got a slick mailer from Fran Pavley, the Ca. "Ass-embly Woman" who is the author of AB 1058. It is full of environmental B. S. One page is devoted to "Stormwater Pollution Facts" about L. A. County & the Santa Monica Bay. Fact number 4 says, "Nearly 2 Million gallons of motor oil flow into the ocean each year... "

What a bunch of Barbra Streisand... (BS). If 2 Million gallons of motor oil washed into the S. M. Bay, that would be almost 530 gallons a day. You would have HUGE oil slicks, oily beaches, dead birds, etc. etc.

Instead, what one sees down at the beach is a pristine sandy beach with no noticeable pollution. Water is pretty clear for a bay.

These "Environmentalists" are such lying scum.

Fran Pavley should be dipped in 2 million gallons of used motor oil until she tells the truth.
