I synced my wife's iPod touch 32G today and iTunes pushed software version 4. 1 down to her iPod. Tonight when connected to the Dodge 730N entertainment system through the iPod connector cable, after playing a song for about 1 minute, the system quit with a Communication Error message that required the iPod to be unplugged from the 730N system and then reconnected and the iPod input reselected on the 730N system. It would then play for 1 minute and quit with a Communication Error message again. Prior to tonight, the iPod had worked fine with the 730N.
If your iPod is working with the 730N, whatever you do, don't upgrade its software!! This problem apparently began with iPod software version 4. 0. I've contacted Dodge to see if they're working with Apple to solve this compatibility problem. According to the Apple forums, it's also affecting owners of Hyundai, Toyota, BMW and other vehicles.
