Just got back from a 6000 mile trip pulling my fiver but all during the trip I was getting warning lights poping on for a second or two then going out. Water in fuel, security light ( does not have one) Transmission temp ( it is a stick), low windshield fluid. Also got a couple of check gages light and a loud alarm signal with the gages showing no problems.

Stopped at a dealer and had him check the system and he found no faults and all the system were within spec.

The mechanic told me that he had seen this a couple of times and it was software related and there was a new software release coming out soon that was suspose to fix the problem.

My dealer here in Phoenix says they do not know of any software update coming out.

Have any of you gotten software updates or heard of similar problems that were cured by a new software fix.

My truck is a standard output stick that was built in 8/02.

Indeed there was a TSB/reflash to fix an intermittent flashing "check gauges" light, but your problem sounds a lot different. It sounds like your ECM software was written by Mircrosoft. However, your build date 08/02 definetly indicates you got an older version of the software, and should have the reflash done. That should fix the problem. Rest assured there is no real problem... it's all just a software bug. I don't remember the TSB number, but just check out www.dodgeram.org in the TSB section... it's there.

Maybe it's just too much grease in the connector to the ECM making for a poor connection. That's what I would check 1st.

Thanks for the lead to the TSB's. The one on the dash gage flashing was exactly what I have been seeing. The dealer played dumb about knowing about the problem.

I also picked up a couple of other problem fixed that I have been seeing from some of the other TSB's

Next weeks discussion with the dealer should be intersting.

Thanks again.
