warped fan?

Have any of you watched the fan on the truck while it is idling? I was looking at mine the other day and you talk about something being out of balance:--) I think the thing moves front to back about 3/8" and it also looks to be out of round substantially. I would think this would be murder on any componets bolted to the fan with all the added stress on bearings and such. Has anyone else noticed this?

I noticed this also on mine. A guy at work has the 03 and his does the same. I was sitting in the albertsons parking lot waiting on my wife . A guy asked me how i liked the truck and said he had just bought one. I was telling him about the fan and we walked over and checked his it did the same.

Could this be the vibration problem that so many are complaining about? Hmmmm.....

On big trucks with plastic fans - the fans are balanced by shaving off the ends of individual blades. Perhaps this is the case? I haven't looked at mine yet.

I noticed this too on mine. I had the dealer run the vin, and it wasn't one of the trucks affected by the fan recall.

Hopefully it just looks bad. I'm keeping an eye on it, and mentioned it at the dealer. Otherwise I've had zero problems and just broke 14k yesterday.
