I'm a new member and I have to say that I'm glad I found this site. It's already answered a lot of questions I had. :D

Now on to my question. I started having some frnt. end shudder during braking with 16,000 miles on my truck. Took it in to local shop and they said the rotors were warped and needed to be turned. Pads were still in good shape. Is this normal. I haven't gone thru any high water or put any undue stress on the brakes. It seems abnormal for the rotors to have to be turned with 16,000 miles on the truck.

While I was there the shop manager mentioned he had a 2500 4X4 with a V-10 and had put Monroe Reflex shocks on and liked them. Any body have info on these particular shocks? Any info would be mucho appreciated. ;)

Warped rotors

Warped rotors are usually caused by getting the brakes very hot. Does the front end shudder on every stop? My ABS makes a little shudder on hard braking on gravel or dirt. bg

Rotors can also be warped by overtightening lug nuts with an air wrench ie: tighten the first one tight instead of going in a pattern and bringing torque up evenly.

The shop manager said that the rotors looked like they had gotten hot. After they machined the rotors, the shudder was gone. Any tricks, beside buying new larger drilled rotors, to keep myoem rotors from getting hot again?
