I was wondering if I removed the muffler, and replaced it with a straight pipe, would that void the warranty. Another point, will it hurt the motor to run without a muffler? While I'm on the warr. question same for the turbo ring silencer... removal/void? Finally, to me loud is good #ad

If you remove the muffler it shouldn't effect your warranty unless the warranty issue involves the exhaust.

It won't hurt the engine at all. It lets it breathe easier and keeps the exhaust temps down.

And yes, It does sound like a big rig. Not too loud, just has a deep throaty sound. In my opinion, you should leave the resonator in (it doesn't hurt anything, it's straight through). If you take it out you might get an annoying drone at about 2100rpm (so I've heard).

JUST DO IT! You'll like it!

If you are thinking about doing it,just go ahead and do it! The only warranty it voids is the one on the exhaust system itself.
I've had my truck stright piped for over a year and still love the sound. It does give it a garbage truck sound.

The silencer ring is easily removed and installed,no warranty problems there. Don't throw the ring away because if you install a K&N RE-0880 or a Psychotty Air on your truck, you'll be putting the ring back in.

I have my truck straight piped and love it. I would however, have left in the resonator if I were doing it again. I live in a rural area, and the straight pipe is pretty loud when you get into the throttle. As far as the warranty, That is up to the dealer. There are a few B. O. M. B. freindly dealers out there who will support you. If you read closely in you owners manual. The car maker has a right under federal emissions laws to void your warranty if you change or disable any emmisions device. Emmisions up to and including your exhaust noise emmisions. Tampering with any emmisions device is also a federal crime. Yes that's right. 95 percent of the TDR mebership are hardened criminals. So join the crowd and get out the sawzall... ... .
