Ats In And What A Feeling!

Onboard dynomometer

just bought a 2001. 5 2500 diesel..... Love it, I got the added warranty that covers almost everything... . reading thru the warranty papers it stated that it must have factory approved items on it. I installed a 4" exhaust along with gauges, which should not cause problems, the question I have is I took off the old air filter and housing and installed a Afe filter with the shield. Will they void my warranty if I ever need engine work on the truck? I know allot of people here on the TDR have done it, will I have a problem? Thanks allot ... .

It all depends on your dealer. I personally would have no qualms in replacing the afe for the stock filter when the dealer is seeing it. It's not like you're trying to hide a power enhancement, in that case I feel a person who hides it is committing fraud.

They can if they want. If you plan on bombing your truck, which you have already done with the AFE and the 4 inch exhaust then you might as well cancel the extended warranty and use that money for repairs or bombs since with these additions you have given DC all they need not to cover an engine repair with even your 5 year 100K mile DC warranty, let alone the extended warranty. Sorry but you can not expect anything other than DC to hold you to the letter of the DC warranty and also the letter of the extended warranty. I canceled mine on my 2000 and put the money in the bank.

Had one dealer refuse warranty work on a leaking trans cooler line because of my Scotty II and gauages, stating that "all the performance upgrades caused the leak" of the fitting that the tech told me was crap to begin with. He said they had already replaced quite a few.

Went back to the dealer that I bought from and was praised for having gauages and the tech and service writer liked the idea of the Scotty pulling cool air. Truck was done the next day by them with out problems.

I agree that it depends on the dealer.

I also agree that you sould keep all the parts that you remove so you can replace for just such a visit. Some others agree with this, some don't, just my opinion.

I wouldnt go pulling into the Dealer with my box hooked up, or even in the truck. But thats just me.

If you do get a Mega-Cannon air intake make sure it has the new Pro-Guard 7 filter. This is supposed to filter like an OEM paper filter. I have one and love it.
