Well my baby is headed to the dealer on Wed. I think my VP44 is going south:( So I thought maybe I'd ask some of you who tried or had theirs replaced under warranty how it went? I do have gauges hooked up and a new exhaust and was wondering if you guys think they will give me a hard time with warranty coverage! I know you have to pay to play but I haven't really started playing yet so any advice would be much appreciated!! THANX!!!!

If you haven't 'Bombed', you're OK, or even, if your dealer 'bombs' their for sale trucks, you are probabley OK.

Really, Gauges actually inform the service advisor that you're not a typical stupid consumer. Believe it or not, many dealerships subscribe, or 'lurk' on the TDR and read it religiously. I even had a meeting once with a Bay Area Service rep that admitted he was a 'lurker' on the TDR.

Because of your TDR messages, I got my power steering replaced for FREE! Not only that, he recommended an upgrade to the gear shaft which has now been incorporated in 2002 models down, and 2003 and up models have gone to a belt drive to prevent your brakes going out at the same time your power steering fails(This happened to me and is why I went to the NTSB)

I was denied warranty service on a leaking trans line fitting at one dealer because I have gauges and Scotty II. I went to another dealer the next day and was praised for having gauages and the leak was fixed the next day ( needed parts). If one doesnt give you the service another will. Also if the service writer gives you a hard time ask for the manager and a written explaination (hint say its for your lawyer) as to how your gauges and exhaust caused your VP to fail, that will usually work and they will act as if they are "doing you a favor" by fixing your truck, but it will be fixed.

hope this helps

You guys have convinced me, I'll take my truck to the dealer with my 'hard to start when warm' problem and just see what happens. It's worth the old college try!

I really wish HVAC was up here in Sacto in my corner but we'll see what the dealer says first! The whole reason I'm whinning, yes I am admitting whinning, is because I have a wedding coming up Nov 1st to pay for and now THIS STUPID VP44 Injection pump blooper happens! I told my (3rd) daughter I'd pay for an elopement but she's not going for it!:( ( Bills, bills, bills!)
