I was looking at someone's truck today at work and noticed it was an extended cab without the quad doors. Manufacture date 3/98 and it was a 24 valve. I was just curious if the quad doors were an option at the time or not, I had not heard of that before.

I learn something new everyday, you hear so much hype over quad cab 12 valves, I thought they were all that way.

Club Cab '98s are not very common, especially a 24-valve one. I have a '98 Club Cab and really like it, since I don't have the cab flex and sqeaky/rattling door problem that sometimes occurs on Quad Cab trucks. I also noticed there's less wind/road noise compared to my '01 which is a Quad Cab. The '98 is tight and nearly feels like a new rig at 210,000 miles. The passenger seat goes clear up to the dash so getting in the back is a lot easier than the '97 and older trucks, since Dodge redesigned the track system with the new interior design.

The best thing about my 99 Clubcab is that it keeps me out of the grocery store. If my wife and I go to town in it, she usually will make a remark like, "I could stop at the store, but it would be easier for me to come back another day on my own. " She thinks it's a hassle to load it without the back doors that open. :-laf

Too funny BSeyler. '99 CC's are very rare. I think I remember you posting on the thread I started several months ago about '99 Club Cabs.

I remember posting something awhile back.

I stopped for fuel one time and had a guy approach me and ask why I had the wrong badges on my pickup. He told me they didn't put 24 valves in clubcabs and someone must have changed them on mine. When I told him it was a 99, he said, "Can't be. They didn't make clubcabs that year - only quadcabs. " I told him how much I appreciated him straightening me out as I mounted up and left him standing at the pump.

No you're not crazy, there's a few running around. They didn't come that way from the factory, they were modified.

Sorry, didn't post that clearly. 12 valve engine, 24 valve badges on both doors.

I've seen that..... I just thought the fender had been replaced until the owner pointed it out to me. I've got two '98 12v trucks, one's a quad, and the other is a Club. The club is by far wayyyy tighter, even with another 70-80k on it. I even started parting out the quad, as the cab is just coming apart. And it was a 2x4.

I also have a '95 Club cab, supposedly the first extended cab diesel sold in Texas, and it had an Unleaded Fuel ONLY sticker inside the fuel door..... kinda made me do a double take the first time I went to fuel it up! :-laf I took it back to the dealer, and he made someone check every one on the lot and called several people to make sure it didn't happen to anyone else. Only found one person, who bought one in Houston. His wife filled it up with Unleaded down the road in Decatur some months later. Still in warranty, so Dodge paid to have it towed and drain the lines. No damage to the engine luckily.
