Anybody know of a top notch repair shop to replace my 1993 W250 RR mail seal? I'm in Northern Virginia near Washington, DC.

Thanks!

I lived in Manassas for 26 years and dealt with the Johnson family all that time for repairs on any number of cars and my 92 Dodge Cummins. John Sr. still hangs around the place if he's not out golfing, but John Jr. is the man to talk to there now.

One job they did for me was a 518 transmission replacement, so I know they can do a Cummins rear main seal. They don't usually work diesels (they have all sorts of commuter car business since they're within walking distance of the Manassas VRE station), but they'll do it.

Mention my name. Theyll remember me. Tim was the technician on the transmission job. He also did the valve adjustments and other things (ATS Exhaust Manifold, rear disk brake kit) I wouldn't do in winter because I didn't have a garage on the house there.

Good people, good work, reasonable (not cheap) price.

The business name is Olde Towne Auto Repair; 703-368-0477. Prince William street a quarter-mile west of the Manassas station.

Hi Mr. Carlson,

Thank you so much for this reference, I had the rear main seal replaced plus the 3 rear shaft U-joints plus the flex plate (all parts were mine, including special HD Piers flexplate and qty 3 Spicer U-joints plus the Cummins rear seal).

I thought the price ($803. 33) was very reasonable. Its great to drive the truck without leaving a trail of oil everywhere I've been to.

They still remember you - and spoke very kindly of you.

I will do the same.

Thanks again,

Alan Gordon
