Prowler 25' 5th wheel

Dana 80 Temperatures while towing

Our fifth wheel has the room to install a washer-dryer combo such as the ones that are a combination unit (such as Splendide)(sp) Has anyone installed one and what have been the results if you did. Any special percautions etc?

I have the combination in my fiver. It does a good job of washing, but a lousy job of drying since it is only 110 VAC. Clothes come out wrinkled so my wife will use campground laundy rooms if available. It is OK for things like underwear, socks etc. You still have to take them out to finish drying. We spend our winters in AZ so things dry real fast there. Befor I paid $800. 00 or so for a combination unit I would look for used ones.

Thanks for your reply; we were measuring the door for the washer to go through, and we would have to remove the frame to get it in, plus a little cabinet modification. I think we might stick with the campground laundramats for the the time being, especially if the dryer doesn't work so hot anyway. They are sure pricey little guys.

We have the non-vented (condensing) Splendide washer-dryer. As mentioned earlier, it does a good job washing small-to-medium loads, but drying is another story. It uses a lot of water on the drying cycle, it takes a long time and the clothes come out feeling slightly damp and wrinkled. We've found that shaking the clothes out and hanging them immediately after they come out of the drying cycle helps the wrinkles fall out.

Summary: It's better than washing the clothes in a river on rocks, but not as good as you're used to with home washer/dryer units.

We have the Sears waher/dryer and it seems to be just fine. Remember that with separate units you can wash and dry at the same time. Sears service available everywhere. Jim s.

Had a combo unit installed with our 96 Alpenlite, when it was new. I have to agree with others comments. It is really just an emergency washer and dryer.

1. Very small loads

2. Need to have full hookups as it used lots of water and electricity

3. Dryer can take over two hours just to dry a small load.

4. You'd be hard pressed to use this combo as your full time washer and dryer and keep up with the laundry, unless you spent all day washing and drying.

On the plus side: If you need some emergency clean clothes, it does work. Have fun...

;)

I think we'll probably use the laundramat, as it appears the unit isn't worth the trouble to put it in. I'm not eager to take the door frame off or modify the cabinet to much for something that is marginal. We have a 27ft Alpenlite, which the washer wasn't an option when it was manufactured.

Thanks for all the input, we were trying to figure a way to enjoy the trip and wash without having to sit in a laundramat for the day! It'll probably be faster doing it that way though!
