Mine doesn't have one. The first time the oil got changed, I let the dealer do it (free). I changed it the second time and noticed it did not have one. I am getting ready to change the oil again and I thought if it is supposed to have one I would buy one to put on it. I have been making sure it isn't leaking. Can I get one at Cummins shop or do I have to go to the dealer?

Thanks,

Eric

Make sure your old one isn't just stuck to the pan. If you are ordering get two. Mine tends to stick to the pan and not come loose until the bolt is out and it can fall into the oil. I put on the second one and then fish the first out of the pan when I'm pouring up the used oil.

The stock drain plug on my truck has an integral gasket molded onto it. If you go to the dealer and buy a drain plug it doesn't have this feature and you'll be required to buy a gasket for it. The dealership here wants about $15 for the plug and a gasket.

The stock drain plug looks like it's designed to be reused, I've done 4 oil changes so far and it looks brand new. It even has torque information stamped on it.

On the 2002's there is no longer a washer, rubber is molder right to the plug itself. Torque specs are 35 ft lbs on the 2002's .

DW you are correct. The gasket is made on the plug. Dealer ordered me a seperate washer. I am going to call and tell them to cancel that order. I assumed they new what they were talking about. Guess I was wrong. I appreciate all the information I got.

Thanks,

Eric
