I need to remove the windshield washer tank. It looks like you just pull it up and out, yea, well not on my truck. I pulled so hard that I think I hurt myself. The cooling recovery tank came out ok but the washer tank will not. Any tips or suggestions?

96 Dodge CTD.

I know exactly what you mean, had the same problem on my 2001 3500 4x4. The trick of it is, is on the washer bottle, the side mated to the shroud, there is a raised, quarter sized plastic notch that you have to pry the middle of the bottle away from the shroud to release it and then the bottle should pull up. I too found this out the hard way.

uh, yeah, what he said, I ended up taking the radiator out, then the shroud, turned it upside down and hit it with a dead blow hammer, now it's out. :)

Thanks for the infomation. I never would have found that, I was ready to hook a come-a-long to the hood and pull that sucker out.

If you spray the coolant recovery tank and the washer tank on the back side against the fan shroud with WD-40 or penetrating oil it will make them come out a lot easier and ditto for putting them back. Worked for me.

After the first time I could then see the 2 dimples on the bottle to the fan shroud. The next time I inserted a big fat, flat, screw driver between the two and it came apart much easier
