Just finished givin' da cummins a bath.
Wondered if any of you dry your truck/car/bike the way I found.
Got tired of Mama's whinin' about using the bath towels to dry the truck ("But Honey, it's already clean". . Yeah right #ad
)
I use my leaf blower. Got a commercial-type backpack blower that puts out 180mph. Blows most of the water off, so one small towel cathes the rest. Still trying to find a CTD leaf-blower. #ad

I have always used a deerskin shammy and always will. No water marks or runs and looks like glass when it's done.

I just go out on the highway at 90 mph, dries it right off. But of course I don't have black ones like you two.

The DiRT email list has been discussing "The Absorber" and the "California water blade". Everyone who uses them gives them very high praise. I'm getting these. Supposed to cut drying time by 2/3!

I use a sheepskin shammy. I have heard of the blower. I worry about the engine exhaust also hitting the paint of my ride. My neighbor teased me about giving my truck a blow-job so I kinda quit.

I have the water blade, an absorber and a chamois. The blade is great for getting the big flat parts dry (hood, windows, roof) and the absorber gets the rest dry. The absorber is a lot better than a chamois, it will hold a ton more water. I have one problem with the absorber, they wear out fairly quick. One summer is all I can get out of an absorber before it starts leaving lint all over. Using the blade cut at least 10 minutes from my drying time.

I use the Water blade and 3 of "The Absorber"'s. Have used them for years and i agree, they hold alot more water then a real shammy. The water blade works great for the big panels but does not work too well on all the grooves so i use teh Absorbers for them. The electric leaf blower works great too.

Radixr, Those would have to be some monster deer to get "family jewel" bags big enough to use as a shammy #ad
. Where I live, those are usually used to cover the shifter knob. Not on my truck though. I'm like the guys that still read the instructions on how to start their trucks, I have to have the shifter pattern where I can see it #ad

I use a chamois. We have a hard water problem that leaves a chalky deposit on the unwiped areas which sometimes take a spray of 50% vinegar/water solution to allow a clean wipe. I have tried good terry cloth towels and like them, but once they are soaked, even a roller squeeze can't keep them from leaving streaks. I do use the towels for door jams, underhood and other spots where grease or dirt are likely to be encountered. AND... no matter what anyone says... clean trucks run better!

you mean you guys wash your trucks? with real water? Mine's brown, but i think it used to be kind'a maroon. Thought the color change was seasonal, like tree leaves #ad

We have'nt had rain in this area for three weeks, Sport was gettin' a little nasty, gave it a bath yesterday.
Of course it rained all last night, and is now supposed to rain all day today #ad

Sounds like I need to get one of those "Absorbers" Do they come in truck cover size?

Doesn't take much of a jewel bag to make a good chamois. Just have to yank on it once in a while and gradually stretch it to size.

Where can I find a roller wringer?

I have a real cheap wringer that a friend of mine purchased at a garage sale for me... I believe it is a Mr. Wringer brand. If I remember correctly, the Eastwood Co. used to sell them.

If you want a REALLY high quality wringer (with or without a catch basin), Griot's Garage ( www.griotsgarage.com / 1-800-345-5789 ) has several of them for sale ($150. -$260. ) #ad

Doc, drive a couple hundred miles NW and look for discarded washing machines. I'm sure you can find an old wringer *some* in MI. For that matter, you should be able to find one closer to home!
