Algae Based Diesel fuel

Gasoline mix??

I was talking to a guy I work with, who also owns a bar. He is considering getting a frier at his bar and I told him to keep me in mind for the waste fry grease. He was telling me that by law a licensed company has to take the oil. Is there any truth to this? Is there any way around the law for him to give me the oil? Thanks in advance for any knowledge on this.

waste vegetable oil

Hello

Only a few states have those type of laws. You know the ones that think its thier job to tell you what you can and can't do.

The Big Corp that gets a lot of oil here in Montana thinks a law in Cal rules in Montana. The state you live in can tell you what the law is and will tell other states to back off. BEEN DOWN THIS ROAD MANY TIMES and have made a few states think about messing with the state of Montana.

Good luck.

It may be true that if a company is in business to remove waste oil, it has to be licensed. That makes sense, but that doesn't mean your friend, who bought and paid for the oil and still owns it, can't give it to a friend. I mean who would know? If he were to hire a removal service as required by local laws then he would have done his part, who says he has to put anything in the barrel.

None of the llocations I've talked to said anything like that. I haven't really gone out and talked to too many because something in my DSE took out my VP44 and I'm not sure if I want to keep experimenting.

I realize this thread is kind of dated. But I got some info from a local EPA officer.

Here in Florida, the state EPA officers follow the federal guidlines (mostly). Used motor oil can be added to diesel fuel up to 50%/50% mix per federal guidlines.

The problem we have here is finding a source for the used oil. The recycling companies are paying $1. 02 +/- right now, (09/09).

Also, remember that not only do we have to filter and de-water, but remember to check the ph. Used oil, especially from a diesel, is usually quite acidic. I usually pass it thru some baking soda that I dump in the final filter. Try sock filters, in progessively finer ratings.

Good luck.
