What will happen if I leave the wastegate hose disconnected?

This is why I ask: When I first installed my new turbo I noticed I was barely able to get over 30 psi. Then, a couple of months later it all of a sudden was pushing over 40 psi. At the time I thought it was odd; however, today when I had the hood open I noticed one end of the hose had disconnected and the other end, the one hooked up to the wastegate, was darn near rubbed through from sitting against the intercooler pipe, over time. I am getting ready to go on a trip in the morning and want to make sure it will be ok to not reconnect.

I don't think I will even get close to the turbo's limits. I think J. R. said they're good for 50 or so psi and I'm no where near that. I just want to make sure it's ok otherwise.

You are under the point of worrying about headgasket issues. So, if you are told the turbo is ok, then it's ok.

You may not need the additional boost to keep your EGTs cool. And if you do not, then you are heating the air and possibly costing yourself some milage, power and wear on the turbo.

Not having mine hooked is most likely the culprit for excess heat at WOT, and probably stole 10-15hp from the top end. My turbo is good for 50psi as well, however the WG is set at 42psi, I expect that 50psi is outside of the turbo's efficiency map(??) and is causing excess drive pressure.
