A friend of mine has a 2002 and when the truck is cold it has a dead peddle. When the truck warms up it runs fine. I was thinking the waste gate may not be closing properly allowing the Turbo to spool up. We removed the actuator and checked it for movement with just air and it seemed to be operating properly, but when we re-installed it it would only move a very little so while the truck was running you could speed it up and grab the waste gate with a set of pliers and give it just a wiggle and it would move all the way. What type of bushing in used to secure the flapper and is there a overhaul kit available?

Something else, even though when we moved the waste gate the truck still seemed not to have the power. It just seems strange. When you first take off in the truck it may speed up and then some time it just bogs down, if you came to a complete stop and started again it would speed up correctly. We just change the fuel filter so thats not it and I don't have any codes showing.

Has anyone else had this problem or any thing else to check? He don't have a fuel pressure gauge so I don't know what the fuel pressure is and neither the boost.

It ain't the wastegate. A wastegate stuck closed wouls result in overboosting, one stuck open would cause 'underboosting', so to speak, but not a dead pedal.
