Do you shorten the rod or lengthen it to make the wastegate open later?

Im sorry, I forgot to specify it is on a 02, not my 98. I know the wastegate looks like it is set up different. I am trying to convince him (dad) just to get the elbow, but he says he wants to see how much diff a little more boost makes in regards o EGT reduction. Is lengthen still the answer?

If I am thinkning correctly, you shorten it. If you lengthen it, it will start to push the gate open even when there is no boost. At least that's how it is on the two turbo's I am looking at. One is a factory HY, the other is a 14cm housing. However, it porobably won't make a big difference

Get the J-hook from TST. It adds a stiff spring to the actuator delaying it's opening. about $25.
