Here I am

Watch who you smoke out!

Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Are parts getting scarce?

Does adding pressure indirectly advance timing?

I caught this article the other day in my local paper.

State agency checks truck emissions on North Shore - SILive.com

There was a picture of them doing a smoke test, and they were driving a very unofficial looking Crown-Vic. The day before this story was printed, I actually saw them driving around and was thinking about what they were looking for. As it turns out, they're looking for soot buildup anywhere near the exhaust.

We / You should not be smoking out anybody..... you only feed fuel (no pun) to the fire.

I am really surprised that the powers (laf) who have been elected on the east coast, are only getting around to this revenue generating BS now. They really do not care about the air quality, they just want your $s, so they can accelerate their agenda.

The ***** packing/left wing elected officials on our coast (Pacific), have been after us for over 20 years. Diesels are exempt for 5 yrs, then you have to pass an opacity test.

As a Diesel advocate, I would ask all... do not smoke people out, I have been guilty myself, but you have got to refrain and stop, they will take our Diesels away.

I say smoke anyone out that makes you mad, I used to think the same way about it adding fuel to the anit's etc, however its too late we are already in the mist of a full on assault by the anti's they are already angry at us, its not like they will get more angry, they are already mad.

I could not open the link, however I will say my '06 stock left a significant amount of soot on the lower quarter panel and side of my back bumper, in this case its the EPA's own fault by adding more diesel after the injection event.

I've been smoke tested along the highway in NJ before... they set up little check points along the road and pull ALL diesels in...

Yes, I know they have roadside testing, but in the past it was mostly commercial vehicles.

I mean the regular every 2 year inspections.

My truck is bone stock- still. I can't believe how much it dumps when tromped. I hope I don't get jammed up because I didn't change anything. I wonder what one would do if that happened, Go after Dodge? I don't know if the federal emissions waranty covers us like it does passenger cars.

Ya know, i'm not from around there... . but if the enviro gps. there are as they are here, they fail to mention other contributing factors... such as Where the air samples are being taken, When they are taken, what is Naturally present in the local environment, local industry that cound be a contributing factor..... etc. . It seems that they tend to pick one thing and attack in full force.

Here in Texas, we have "Ozone action days" during the summer months. A HUGE contributing factor is the Extremely Hot and Humid climate..... Another is that where the air samples are taken is at the end of a local airport runway that is used by the USAF to practice "touch-and-gos" in B-52 bombers... . hhmmm... I wonder why we have poor air quality information????? Could it be eight jet engines at full power gaining altitude and hosing the air sensors with jet fuel???? Oh, no, that couldn't be it, it must be some guys 5. 9l Cummins with a 75 hp. chip and no muffler!!!

I agree with the enviro radicalism, but I think it's more of an enforcment renaissance. In these parts, the pols seem to have discovered that decades of lax enforcment allowed people to slack. They have jacked up the fines and are persuing offenders, suddenly deciding to follow the rules- which not all of us are. This isn't for the environment, but for the coffers. This is happening outside of this topic. Red light cameras are popping up all over, for example.

There is another story around that isn't getting much ink. In Newark NJ, you have about a half mile between the major airport and port Newark, which is the largest port in the east. Seperating the two is the famous NJ Turnpike- all 12 lanes. The feds are targeting the port and the ships for non-compliance, and are about to force major change there. I just don't understand how they can single out the port. All this is pretty much due northwest from the enforcment area on Staten Island. The most common wind current is from that direction.
