I just ran thru a puddle that was deeper than I thought. Right after the puddle this ding goes off, ck guages lite comes on and the voltmeter is at zero. Did the water kill the alt or is there a chance it is still good after it dries out? I'm going to check the fuses after the rain lets up a little.

Betcha it'll be OK after it dries out. I did the same thing in snow with my truck and had the same thoughts as you-but after I ran it for 10 minutes or so, shut the truck off and restarted it everything was good to go again. First one I've had to shut down-everything else I've ever had started charging again as soon as the alternator dried out. Must be something to do with the PCM control over the charging system I guess.

It's normal again

It dried out and is working like normal. I would have thought the 4 mile ride home would have dried it out. Gotta store this event in the memory bank for the next time.
