Has anyone addressed the problem with the water accumulation within the storage tanks of the typical air horn system. I have a nice Grover setup and have noticed quite a bit of water condensation within the storage tank. With my original bumper, I was able to mount the tank so that the outlet was at the very bottom with the thinking that the water would be routingly blown out of the horns. With my latest installation (new Buckstop bumper) I no longer have it placed in lowest position. Should we be considering an Air Water Separator for this application? Or, just replace it when it finally rusts through?

I have also thought about running the intake of the Thomas Comressor to the inside of the cab via an air hose but was concerned about the extra restriction. I use this compressor to air up tires from time to time so I would like it to breath.

Next time you are around a large semi repair shop. Hit the parts counter and tell them you need a manual tank drain valve. It will most likely be 1/4" pipe thread and it should have a wire cable attached. You pull on the cable to drain the tank. Just Mount the end of the cable in a place that is easy to get to.

Another option. You could get a 12 volt Asco brand valve and rig it from a toggle switch. The S series is theone to look at.

drain the air tank daily

When I was operating large equipment at the mine, we would routinely drain the air tanks at the end of each shift. It is a given that air and water separate in a compressed state. More predominant during times of high humidity. Also you do not want your functions to get the air from the bottom of the tank, if you can help it.

Good advise so far. Obviously, these steps are taken with home/shop compressors, but there is no mention of this that I am aware of for the typical Hadley or Grover kit installs.

Got one of these on the shop tank. It opens for 1 second every time the tank pressure drops 15 psi.
