OK had a water problem in cab on the PS floor. The only way I noticed it was by a musty smell:( I took the truck to the dealer they had it for a week and said try it to see what happens. If it stopped they will order me a new carpet and padding kit and put it in when I want. They just want to make sure they got it. Told me to run it for a while and see what happens. Well checked the PS floor today and the carpet is wet. NOt as soked as it was but still wet. I checke the third brake light, AC hose is draining but I have noticed condensation in my cab lights. Any suggestion this is aggrivating!

Me too...

I'll be watching this thread with great interest because I've had the same issue. I suspect the 3rd brake light and have been thinking of putting some sealant around the exterior of it. Anyone else already solve this issue already???

I used foam tape, 1/8" thick by 1/4" wide, with adhesive on one side only, to seal mine. Others have purchased an additional gasket from the dealer & added it to the existing one.

Before you use a sealer on it, remember that you will need to remove the light housing if a brake lamp or cargo light lamp needs replacement.

I recently fixed mine with the black sticky stuff that the A/C people use. Put it under my third tail light and sealed it completely.

Then I pulled my door covers and used aluminum tape to seal the plastic. Actually hosed down my doors upholstery and all. Wouldnt believe how much dirt in the material. Sun dry a couple of hours. And good to go!

Also put 2" of foam into my seat from Hobby Lobby. Rides like a big rig now.

had a similar deal with mine, water was getting on cab floor by way of ps door glass. seems that it ran down the glass and into the door as it should, then it hit the speaker sheild and made it's way to the inside of the plastic and ran down until it dripped on the carpet from the door panel.

a little plastic added in the door , some black goo, and it's fixed.

but it was not easy to find, checked back glass, firewall, brake light.

then I removed all the carpet from truck to dry and clean.

you might try looking there as well.

good luck

Just went up to NAPA and got a preformed 90* 5/8 hose. It 's about 3" on one end and 14" on the other. This allowed me to only use 1 hose clamp a little bit easier instead of the 90* fitting and two pieces of hose with 3 hose clamps. I put it on the A/C drain in the firewall and we'll see what happens. I think this is where my water is entering the cab. Maybe the dealer didn't run it with the A/C on? Maybe blowing back in around gasket? Well any way the hose number is NAPA 9808 and it was under $10 with the clamp in case anyone wants to add one to their truck. :) "keeping fingers crossed"

Here is a good "what not to do" !!

After you seal up the third tail light ...

After you seal up the plastic behind the door panel ...

After you blow all the leaves and debris out of the door jams ...

Do not ... Do not leave a gallon of distilled water in your tool tray!!

I couldn't figure out why in the world my cab was wet again.

Well I pull my seat forward and bingo !! A gallon of water that had a complete vacuum and was crumpled down to the thickness of a sheet of paper !! still factory sealed.

From what I could "ascertain" the heat in the truck would expand and push the water out. The a/c and the cool of the evening would allow it to cause a suction.

This went on until my floor was soaked and the water was almost completly gone.

Thought I would jump on board here... I too have had the wet PS carpet. Although most of the time it is the padding under the carpet that gets wet. I isolated my problem to the upper corner of the rear window. On my '96 there is a black metal trim piece that runs the length of the roof and turns down the back side and ends under the rubber gasket of the rear window. I believe that the water is coming in right there. It was a real pain to locate this leak and I have not been successfull yet in stopping it. I almost think that the rubber gasket which goes all the way around the rear window has shrunk and is leaving just enough of a gap for the water to come in. Just another option you might want to explore... .

I spent some time yesterday searching for my leak. . After pulling the carpet and pad from under the a/c area there was a clear dirt trail running down the floorboard. I put a piece of garden hose on the nipple coming out of the firewall to run it down lower. It was just dripping into the insulatin on the firewall. I also flushed the leaves and stuff from the drains by each door jam. Had two hoses flooding the cowl area and all looked good. Fingers are stll crossed. We've had a coulple feet of rain here in the last month or so. It would be nice to see dry carpet again.

Two times so far, during extremely heavy rain, water dripped (ran) from near the front of the overhead computer.

What Pumperdude said

I used 5/8" clear vinyl tubing. When your driving down the road the air blows right in the drain line and into your truck, especially in highway use. You need to do this anyway even if it's not the culprit.

I put the preformed 90* 5/8 extension hose on the drain that comes out of the firewall on the engine side. It's kind of hard to see from the top so break out the creeper. It's black and only sticks out about an inch or so from the firewall.

Watch out, a water leak can drive you crazy if you let it. I'm in the same situation as R Butts, mine seems to come from the top RH corner of the back window at the body seam. Too many of these trucks leak and it seems they leak in all sorts of ways. I found mine by removing the rear seat and club cab interior panel and waiting for rain. Haven't had much luck sealing it yet, have only been able to slow it down. I keep threatening to drill a drain hole and I get closer all the time, but that'll be only after admitting total defeat.

My advice is to get rid of the carpet padding. That musty smell will linger forever. You can find a suitable replacement at a carpet store. Good luck.

Thanks

CUMPART!

Thanks for listing the part # for the Napa hose. I copied it down and went to my local Napa dealer and they had it in stock. $10+ w/tax.

A creeper and a flashlight makes it easier too. 1/4" drive ratchet, 5/16" socket and 12" ext. = 5 minute job.

;)

Thanks Again!!
