I was washing the truck last night and when I got back in the truck the water in fuel light was on. I thought that I may have hit something with the pressure washer. I drove it home and then this morning, it came back on before I left my neighborhood. I get fuel at the same truck stop, from the same pump, everytime. The fuel filter was replaced 6K ago.

What do I need to check? What do I need to look for? Is there a seperate fuel/water seperator? Any ideas?

Is there a procedure for replacing the filter or getting water out? Anything I will have to do to prime the engine so that it will start when I am done?

TIA

I had the exact same thing happen to me last week after power washing carefully. Mainly... just drain the filter at the bottom of it... and reprime. Thats it.

However I did that and noticed no water in the fuel. And the light still stayed on. I think I got water on some connection somewhere. Cause after driving all day and building up some heat under the hood... it just went out on its own. I wouldn't worry after you drain and re-prime the filter.

The fuel pump has a hand pump lever on it. You may already know that. The drain just "pushes" up and drains. Let go and it stops.

Found it.

Did it.

Light off.

Couldn't really tell if there was water, but we are having 100 year record rainfall right now and I will see if the light comes on again.

Thank you very much.

Pull the plug apart for the water in fuel sender and clean it. It filled up with water. I have had it happen before.

Maybe I should do that too. But mine went off finally. I figured... if I don't see any water drain out... then there is no water in the fuel. But maybe thats a bad assumption after all.
