I've got a friend with an '08 that he bought new with no bed for his business which got some water into the tank almost a year ago and has been just sitting after some frustrating trips to the dealership. They removed and cleaned the tank and fuel filter but told him it was only running on 3 cylinders so he took it home and parked it frustrated. I'm hoping we can help him get this "new" truck back on the road and making money. I'm wondering if we can crack open the injector lines and flush the system or perhaps before the injector pump/s?

I'm a Gen 2 guy so this is new territory for me. Thanks in advance!

It is a high pressure common rail engine. No fuel injection pump. Just the high pressure CP3 pump. If the injectors got a shot of water, probably time to replace them. Water is not a lubricant of any form.

Start by pulling the connector tubes. They should be shiny and clean. Any hint of rust or black spots and it is time for pump, rail, connector tubes and injectors. Also pull the tank or raise the bed and replace/clean the pump in the tank depending on what it looks like. The worst thing he could have done was let it sit.

X2, Any sign of corrosion it time for complete system removal and replace,Lines, pump, rail, tubes, injectors, tank just clean, but replace the module $$$$ss

The dealership removed and cleaned the tank and pump and worked forward to the filter. This has been a big ******* match as this truck has only been serviced at the dealer and one of the techs broke the small plastic vent on the tank vent at the top of the tank. None of the parts are replaceable according to the dealer, you have to replace the whole tank for a $0. 50 piece!!! This is what allowed the water into the tank and of course the dealership excepts no responsibility and claims it's his fault for not immediately installing a bed. They have been more than happy to work on it without the bed..... hmmmm.

Anyway, thanks for the input. I too wish he hadn't let it sit but, he doesn't live here on TDR but he might after this one!
