The WIF light has been blinking at me for 2k now. I've noticed that the light comes on more at certain rpms. Anyway, I ordered a new sensor from Genos, but it's for a 96 and earlier and different from mine. I went to the dealer and they wanted $146 for the sensor. Anyplace else might have it cheaper?

water sensor

Mine has been disconnected since about 125,000 miles, now at about 615,000. don't worry about it as long as you buy fuel at truck stops with large fuel turnover. Push the drain outlet every once in a while you should be o k. Stormy

I would check to make sure you don't have water in your fuel. That is what the sensor is there for. Replacing it is not going to fix the issue if there really is water in the fuel. I would investigate instead of going through the motions and thinking that the sensor is wrong. Save yourself $146.

You can get one at a big truck dealer under fleetguard brand for a lot less. You just have to find a parts guy who can find the right number for you. (I don't have it)

thanks. I can get the part number from Cummins. I could unplug it, but would like to sell the truck in a year or two and would like everything working on it.

Just replaced the fuel injection pump on a friends truck who had water in his fuel. I had to pull his tank also. Full of water. There was a several possibility's of where it came from. I have been told if a fuel truck is unloading when I pull up to a truck stop keep on driving. I do so every time. I have replaced my fuel filter twice in the last 5 years. Once when I bought it, I thought that was the reason the 95 was such a dog, and the other day after I saw my friend truck die from water. My truck does the same thing when I wash it, so I just unplug the sensor till it drys out. Good luck jim

I've drained my filter housing into a container and let it sit. no water forms on the bottom. Done this about 3-4 times since the light started flashing. just get clean diesel out every time.
