Must have a short somewhere, disconnected it from filter housing and the light still blinkes. Have checked the plug and the wires, but the light continues to blink. Where do these typically short out?

How do you really know that you don't have water in your fuel? That sensor is there for a reason and I would double check to make sure you have no water in your fuel before you assume it is shorted out.

1. I disconnected the sensor and it blinks exactly the same way as when it was connected. 2. I have drained the fuel filter 5 seperate times over several weekes into a clean dry jug, letting the fuel sit for a day. no water dropped out.

Well, you might just have one of the rare WIF sensor failures. I can't remember if there is a fuse for that sensor, but maybe someone can chime in with a recommendation on where to start looking for problems since you already inspected the harness.

I never had a problem with water in the fuel until I let the Dodge Dealer change the fuel filter. Now the light comes on at least once a week. I sometimes wonder about my dealer. :--)
