Anybody ever had problems with their water in fuel sensor? Like the valve leaking, from the shaft part, that part that slides up and down to release the water that may be in the fuel?

I have at least two of them so end up rotating when I change out the filter. Haven't had a problem with 150K on the truck.

Okay, the clear drain tube is gone ... ...

Never found water in the separator but don't over look the fuel strainer. Thats where I found water. It seems to get trapped there first and you won't know it until you service it.

A couple months ago the WIF valve fell off and fuel was pouring out all over the place. I started smelling fuel and found a place to stop and when I shut the engine down all of the fuel in the filter ran out and I could not get pressure to restart. So I ended up having to get towed to a dealer to find out what was wrong. At the I was sure it was the rubber hoses behind the motor. My truck is 96, about 100K miles

Broken wires,

Changed my oil, oil filter, and fuel filter this evening. Went to unplug the connector for the water in fuel sensor and what to my wondering eyes should not appear? No wires on the bottom of the sensor. Both broken off clean with the plastic body of the unit. Since I am getting ready for a trip it will have to wait till I get back. I suspect the wires are too long and they tend to get caught and twisted up as I spin the fuel filter off. I have tried both the sensor first and then the filter with the sensor still in place. I think the replacement will get a little reworking of wires and plug to shorten what is suspended from the sensor prior to installation. Anyone else have this happen to them and how did you fix?

Regards, John

My sensors wires were yanked out also, this is one time I'm glad I had a Prime Loc, if the filter was in the original location I may have had a harder time finding the source of the leak. I think I finally figured out where it is leaking from, it looks like I have a crack in the threads of the sensor, so I siliconed it to the filter and it seems to have slowed down the leak. I also ordered one from Genos (and dang it, how'd those Kodiak steps end up in my order too;) ???).
