2006 5.9, Oil Coming Out of Valve Cover Vent Hose

Hi forum. I've yet to get the "Water-In-Fuel" light. I do occasionally open the valve on fuel filter housing to let accumulated water out and I can recall on a few occasions seeing water in the container used, but I've never had the WIF light go on and I'm wondering how often it happens to others ? The manual says 30-40 kilohms causes the light to come on so easy enough to test sensor and trigger a false positive.

They usually don't light with condensation water because there is not any minerals in the water to compete the circuit. They will come on with a bad load of fuel.

thanks for sharing experiences, helpful to me with my first legitimate diesel ( I owned a Olds 5.7 diesel, but that doesn't count in my opinion ).
