new guy here! I have a 93 CTD 4x4 original owner, and i just changed my fuel filter. Now my water in fuel light does not go off, and it sputters when i start it, only for a few seconds. I made sure my connection was tight for the sensor and the filter was tight also. It seems to run good (normal). It's a stock motor: Banks exhaust, AFE filter, pump turned up a little. any suggestions will be appreciated.

Mine sputtered for a while after the filter change and I am pretty sure it was airlock due to me not getting it all bled afterward.

I have seen the insulation crack just below the WIF sensor and short it out. I assume that if you unplug the WIF sensor, that the light goes out. If that is so, you have something making contact somewhere.

When you replaced the fuel filter, is it possible that high humidity or something got water into the filter media and when filled with diesel the water settled to the bottom of the housing? I would flush it really well and check the wires.

Are you the original owner or did you just get it from them? IE how long have you known the truck?

Welcome to the mob!

Ken

dumb old me! you were right, air lock. yes i am the original owner! and this has never happened to me on this truck. Good thinking about the WIF I'll try it in the a. m

I got tired of having the WIF light on so last time I changed filters I ground 1/16 th or so off the contacts.

No more light.

Or you could just unplug the connector... or use the filters that don't use the sensor.

I've never had any water in my fuel when I've drained it.

Has anyone else had any water?

When I called Banks, they told me they don't make ANYTHING for my 1993 CTD. Where / How did you get a Banks exhaust system for it?

I'm the original owner so i put it on when i bought it. and now i'm getting rid of it! Going to a turbo back 4"! Banks is so expensive, and they discontinued most if not all stuff for the older CTD.
