USA Today review of 03 CTD 'Ram heavies are sweet'

Any Jetta TDI owners out there? I got questions.

while moving my daughter to Pa for school I received two tanks of diesel that had a tremendous amount of water. My truck lost power and would hardly run. Pulled into a dodge dealership changed fuel filter and an additive to help disapate the water. upon returning home i continued to have power loss. went to local dodge dealership and had them do a dionogistic test on the engine. the transfer pump and the injector pumps are shot and need replaced ($2500) in repairs at this time. MY question iswhat other damage might possibly do i have that may show up later. I have been told possibly burnt injector or pistons. I am considering trading off for a new one. MY current truck is ram 2000 4x4,2500 loaded has manuel 6speed. considering trade on 2002 loaded with automactic transmission. Need some help quicky .

Why do you say that? That would not plug the filters.

I got some water in some fuel in my old 67 Benz once years ago. It never made it past the filter so it didn't hurt the injector pump or nozzels. I did end up changing the fuel tank, but that is because I had an extra on hand and it was easier than cleaning out the old one. No other damage.

Diesel fuel attracts moisture. Theres always some in the fuel. But to destroy Injection pumps and injectors you must continually run your engine with high amounts of hydrated fuel. Over time coroding every thing inside the injection pump.

I geuss the thing to do is analize the fuel out of the fuel tank of your truck. Or you could just stick your nose down by the filler and smell if you have gas. Gasoline destroys the lubericity of the diesel fuel causing a lot of wear. It is also harmfull to injectors.
