What happens if water gets into the intake? I just got the Pro Guard 7 and it's all open pretty much and it seems like water would be able to get in there? I know you can by the sock that goes over it but until then should I be worried? Is a little water bad or just a lot of water?

Hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in, but I don't think the little bit of mist that might get through the filter would do any harm.

Since you talk about how "open" it is, I assume you installed the whole intake and not just the drop-in filter. The pics I've seen show the filter tilting down. That should stop any "rivers" of water from entering the intake tube.

Lots of people are running these filters. I'm sure we would be hearing about it if they caused any problems at all.

In my opinion, any water that actually gets to the turbo at the speed it's turning would not be a good thing. I've seen the effects of water droplets to steam turbine rotors, and they don't turn nearly as high a RPM as the turbo. I may be full of it, but that would be my personal biggest fear.

The turbo is not designed to be impacted by water drops. A few actual good sized drops could damage it. Mist, on the other hand shouldn't hurt it if it is really fine mist. There is just about always water condensation on the inside of the intake tubing every the truck sits long enough to cool off.

I've had my AFE since Nov 03 and have never had a problem with water yet. I even take it to through the self serve high pressure car wash occasionally. The jets spray around the front grill and over the hood with no problems. Drive right out of it with no noticeable changes. By the way I have both the mag flow filter and the Pro7 and haven't had any problems with either.
