How many of you with the water/meth injection use distilled water? Any idea what effect regular tap water would have on an engine?

It seems like there would be minerals all over the tubing where the water is injected. The minerals would have to fall out of the mix or at least go through the engine as smalle particals. I assume its not a problem-any idea why?

Just curious because I am thinking about giving my truck its first drugs and I tow a lot and would use lots of water. Not that distilled water is expensive but it would be a lot easy to fill up with the garden hose. Thoughts?

If you live in an area with REALLY hard water, then I would avoid tap water. I have considered running distilled as well to dilute my windshield washer fluid, but all this does is increase the $$$ per mile, and your right, turning on the faucet is soooo much eaiser.

Jim Fulmer, you have been running this set up the longest, your opinion if you please.

i'm using distilled water in my system. i also buy straight methanol and do my own mixing.

i wouldn't recommend using well water. did you notice how tiny the screens are in the injector tips ? wouldn't take much to clog them up.

with the 8 gallon tank i wouldn't worry about having to refill very often.

I've considered the water/meth system since I tow. How long does 8 gallons last you?

You can get Methanol anywere they sell race fuel, track or out in town. I bought a race fuel jug and use it for re-fuel and keep it in the garage.

It all depends on your setup, how you drive, and where you drive.

For me running with 2k in the bed, I would use probably 5-7 gallons between Denver and Grand Junction. Denver to Kansas City, probably 1 gallon.

Do a search on "Water AND Meth* AND result*" and fill in the user name with "sticks". I have started several threads aobut my kit and my results.

i buy my methanol from a local oil distributor. it is $4. 00 a gallon if you bring your own can. they will ship it if you can't find it anywhere.

my truck don't see 2k miles of pavement a year so i can't reply on how long a 8 gallon tank will last.

i put the stage 1 kit with 8 gallon tank on my brothers psd about a month ago. it's a daily driver and a weekend camper puller. we mixed 2 gallon meth and 2 gallon water and he hasn't been back for meth yet. i'll ask him how many miles he's driven. he has a 125 flip chip and with the 50/50 mix while towing the camper,,WOT,,pulling a long grade,,it wont break 1250 on the pyro now. before he could only run half throttle at 1500 deg.

i set his controller to come on at 13 lbs. boost and 100% at 20 lbs. boost.

OK if you buy the Meth for $4/gal what's the advantage over windshield washer fluid? If you mix it 50/50 with water it's still $2/gal Washer fluid runs about $1/gal

higher meth % = more hp.

also,,i searched all the local stores that carry washer fluid and none of the bottles actually stated what % meth was in the washer fluid. the bottles did list a few other ingredients that i didn't know what they were so i decided to mix my own. the 50/50 mix was just a starting point for me. i'll adjust the percentage after more testing on finding out what mix is best for my truck.

most likely will be a 35-40% meth mixture.

price comparison was not an issue. getting the best mixture for the type of fueling and air mods i have is.
