Water Leak

Recently I discouvered that the felt under the mat forward of the driver's seat is saturated with water. Presently swapping newspapers in and out to absorb.
Have read in the past about leaks from the outside air vent area just forward of the drivers door.
How do you get that panel off, have removed 7 screws and while it's loose and moves a little, won't come away and I don't want to break anything.
Is there a drain in the bottom of the vent that is supposed to drain the water away?

Had the exact same problem with the felt insulation, I replaced it this summer, along with the carpet. That trim pannel you refer to is difficult to remove, it has a tubular projection on the back, that holds the sliding door in place. This projection goes through a large hole in the inner body pannel. To get it out you have to bend it away from the body.
I don't think that my truck was leaking from the air vent, but rather was from melted snow running under the carpet.

My 69 Powerwagon(slant 6) leaked and the metal floor was rusted through to daylight. My 90 leaks. I simply leave the floor mat loose, check under it once in awhile for moisture and when I find water I dry it with towels. No rust so far partially because the paint is good. I had a buddy that had the same problem with his 89 TD.

1990(140,000 miles), 3. 54 gears, W250 5spd(replaced on guarantee), new head gasket at 98,000 miles, Reunel winch bumper, extra front and rear leaves, K&M air filter, Stanadyne fuel filter and Performance Formula Fuel Conditioner, Borgeson steering assembly and modified steering box to stiffen the steering, balanced drive shafts fore and aft, passenger-side rubber mat loose to mop up the water that leaks into the cab, CB and 2 meters(KB7VEJ), above the cab aluminum canopy with kayak/canoe rack. It’s a keeper.

my 93 was real bad, w/ delly rear is high up
so that water drains inside door to front
vent hole, then over runs rubber trim
then onto carpet, now if rain i park w/ rear at least level or lower than front
has helped, i had 2 paper towel carpet
and leave elevated so to breeth
