Since Christmas we have had a lot of precipitation, both snow & rain. When it rains or the snow melts, I am getting wet carpet on the passenger's side at the rocker cover. I installed Husky floor liners one week ago and they do not have water on top which leads me to believe that the heater core is okay.

Has anyone had this problem? Possible solutions?

Could be the third brake light, check, for water leak ,mine is probely leaking as under mat is wet will be looking at it this week for sure. Ron Bissett In Metro Louisville Ky

Major culprit has generally been the third brake light. Water leaks in there and ends up getting the passenger side floor wet. Don't ask me why there. Check and re-seal if necessary. Lots of info if you do a search for the topic.

Best,

Steve

I know the third brake light leaks on my truck almost every car wash. I have never had water on the floor board previously. I think it is coming down at the front of the door.

Get some of that clear flowable silicone used for windshields. Seal the top and sides of the third brake light, maybe replace the bulbs before you do this. Worked for me.

If the third brake light leaks the water runs across the top of the rear window and then down. The rear seat is on a raised place in the floor. That makes for what amounts to a rain gutter on both sides of the cab so the water flows to the front. The result is squishy carpet in the front, usually on the side the truck leans when it is parked.

I have just noticed the same problem. Taking into account what joe g said about what way the truck leans when parked my driverside should be the wet one, but it just on the passenger side. :(

what about the bolts holding the seat in to the floor board?

I'm not sure what you are asking. The seat bolts are not going to leak if the truck just sits there in the rain.

I had the same problem, and it occurred without rain..... Turned out the seal for the AC drain was going bad, and water from that was leaking inside and down along the outside of the carpet... ... Just got a good spark plug cap for a old distributerend of the wire and pushed it onto the nipple of the drain and turn it to face down... . Now the water is discharged below the seal and can not get blown back by the wind or engine fan. :p

The AC drain sticks straight out of the firewall. I put a piece of plastic hose about a foot long and turned it down - no more problem.

I pulled the carpet up on the passenger's side on Sunday and found a very wet floor. I also removed the plastic cover behind the seat on the B-pillar. The channel along the rocker had water in it from front to rear. The foam under the heavy black rubber/plastic piece in the foot well was also soaked. I will get some silicone to seal the 3rd brake light to see if that fixes things. I replaced the bulbs in the 3rd brake light about 3 weeks ago and also had the windshield replaced about 2 months ago. Too many problems at one time. Hopefully it's just the brake light or something simple.

I had the windshield replaced in October because the drag strip wouldn't let me run on test n' tune night with a cracked windshield. We have had an abnormally wet winter so far and I did not notice any water on the floorboard until after Christmas. I'm not sure what you're getting at SNOKING.

Maybe that is where the leak is at. SNOKING

check the hinges out I've had this problem for a while, a body shop told me the hinge pins were bad and letting water around door seals.

Had the same problem several months ago. Found the drain hose missing on the A/C. Replaced it with some plastic hose, dried out the carpet and pad underneath and haven't had anymore problems.

I'm pretty sure it's not the windshield. It was replaced at the end of October and this wet area didn't show up until after Christmas. It could have something to do with the 6+ inches of rain that has fallen so far this month. As I think back, the wet floorboard started shortly after I replaced both 3rd brake light bulbs. Has anyone used silicone to seal the 3rd brake light?
