Water pump FYI

Just got off the phone with Doug at dodgeparts.com. Seems they have redesigned the water pumps for our engines. Don't know what is different about them, but the price went from $70 to $128 (still beats my local dealer by $37). Maybe they gold plated them or something. Just thought I would share.

Did ya check www.reliablegoods.com for their Cummins price? I've seen that they are cheap.

I posted the four prices of waterpumps I encountered prior to my exidus to sunny South West FL



NAPA was the best price it was about $65. 00 new/45 or so reman.

Cummins had the hightest@ $165 or so new/120 or so reman

I didn't even ask the dealership



There was a very slight difference in the impeller design between the two.

I strongly recommend against installing any NAPA parts or any other brand of after market parts on these engines. The reason I bought my truck is because Cummins has a reputation for reliability. There is absolutely no way a NAPA rebuild will match a Cummins water pump or any other part for that matter.

I especially cringe when I see someone installing NAPA oil or fuel filters to save $3. 00 or something!

It's not worth the savings. Cummins has proven to me that the parts they manufacture are of a higher standard than Ford, GM, Dodge... & certainly anything NAPA sells... why go to a product of lesser quality now?

I'll stick with Cummins & the little extra I have to pay will pay dividends in the long run... we wouldn't love these trucks if they hadn't done a great job so far.

No. I'm in South-West Florida now. Won't be getting home untill Tuesday night. Then have to unload a trailer that Wednesday. Big party in Colubus Ohio on Sat. Will have to detail the truck and unpack the suitcase sometime in there.



We were supposed to meet up @ Muncie, remember? Maybe we can get together next summer. BTW. I will be in North Central IN in October.
