Hello and questions....

I have water spots on each side of my windshield on the dark strip running down both sides and on all of my windows except the back window. My problem is that I can't find anything that will get the **** things off. I've tried scrubbing with everything that I can think of but they just won't come out. Any suggestions(other than a hammer) would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have had good luck with a product call "C. L. R. " You can find it in the cleaning supply aile at a grocery store, hardware store or even Wal-mart. Believe the letters stand for Calcium, Lime, Rust. The stuff is pretty potent so don't get any on the paint. You may want to dilute it and wear gloves. The fumes don't smell like they are good for your health either.

Good luck

Try vinegar, works great. Don't let it sit on paint...

I wax mine and it takes them off. Be sure not to wax the windshield!

I have had very good luck with MOTHERS, Back to Black. I use it on all the exterior trim, not only the black #ad

You can find it at "Wally World" or most auto parts stores.

John, I agree with BigDaddy, only I use the Meguiar's plastic cleaner. Does a real good job on black plastic. As for the glass, the best trick I learned (got it from Shadetree Mechanic), is to use Comet. It's abrasive enough to take the stuff off your glass, but not abrasive enough to hurt the glass. Won't hurt your paint unless you scrub on it.

Someone told me to rub toothpaste on them and that will remove them. I have also rubbed them with a piece of newspaper and that did a good job.
Good Luck

I got some 0000 (them are zero's) steel wool from my dealer for removing spots on the windshield. Use it with a good glass cleaner. They use it all the time when cleaning up cars after delivery. You can find it at most hardware stores or glass companies. Its made for cleaning glass.

Here's another trick that works, use rubbing compound on all the glass that is spotted. I had to do mine just a couple of weeks ago. It came from the dealer with all the spots on every piece of glass but the rear window.

I use 3M™ Finesse-it™ II Finishing Material 05928 on my truck. I use as a rubbing compound. Works great for me.

I use a water spot remover called "Ducky". It comes in a white spray bottle with an orange label, and is available at boat stores. Not sure whats in it, but it seems to be pretty safe. Works great on the boat, to.

I tried a bunch of store bought products. Nothing worked better than vinegar on an old rag. Just wipe it on. Wait a minute, then rinse with water, or another rag with water on it. Works wonders for water spots in glass showers too.

1tuffram had it right. CLR works great.
Water spots are just the dissolved hard minerals and crap left over when the water evaporates. CLR is made to cut stuff like rusty water/mineral deposits on shower glass. Cleans rust stains off concrete real well too.

The big surprise is using it on the rear window of a convertible with a milky/yellowed back plastic window. It took a couple applications on my boy's car, but now he can see out the back window again. If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it.

Warning - Don't let it sit too long, it's potent stuff. Doesn't hurt to wear rubber gloves when using it either.

I just found out about another product that is said to really work well. I haven't tried it yet as I just heard about it on another web site but I plan to real quick.
It is called "No Touch Auto Glass Stripper" and is reported to be available at Ace Hardware. I'll let you know how it works as soon as I can get to town and pick some up.

Hello all, when you do get the spots off, put a coat of wax on the windows, its just like putting Rain-x on them, only cheaper
