If there is one small complaint I have with my truck its that the windshield seems to be more suseptible to water spots than any of my previous Dodge trucks.

It came that way off the lot and the only way I was able to get rid of those was a LOT of scrubbing with a glass cleaning compound I found. Your typical glass cleaners didn't do squat.

Now, before you say it, I did use Rainex when I finally got the spots off. Unfortunately, I must have went too long between treatments.

Anybody know of any sure-fire ways to get water spots off a windshield?? I have heard that white vinegar mixed with distilled water can sometimes work but that's it.

Thanks,

Huskerman

I by mine through auto magic:

I beleive they are the originators of clay (don't quote me on that)

In my area, you buy direct from a wholesaler/distributor out of his van. They have a lot of nice products for detailing.

My BIL bought at wal-mart a wash and rince device from Mr Clean... . uses replacement filters..... it prevents and traps the chemicals that cause the water spots..... He shared this with me one day when his truck was so clean... . Of course I went out and bought one... . and am surprised how good it works... and few water spots we have... .

But to answer your question... . I've used white vinegar many times and it works well... . 1 cup per gallon of water.....

The way a clay bar works is, you first spray a water based film over the surface being cleeaned. The clay is wiped over the surface, never really touching it because t hydroplanes on the spray. The contaminates stick up through the spray film and stick to the clay. As the clay moves over the contaminate, it is pulled off the surface. There are never any swirl marks or hard rubbing. In fact, if you use pressure with the clay, you are doing it wrong and it will drag and stick to the painted surface.

You don't just buy a clay bar, you buy a kit that contains the liquid spray as well.

Geno's sells the kit. I like the one from Mothers. The spray smells like cinnamon!!! Very nice while you are wiping down your truck. It works great on windows. It will pull up any paint overspray, road tar, etc and leave the finish like new with no polishing marks. I'm repeating myself.

I'm repeating myself.

(Ha!!)

I always use the clay bar prior to waxing my vehicles-that stuff is great. For washing I now use the Mr. Clean system. I saw fishing friends Ford this summer and I mentioned to him that his truck looked realy clean. He said he used the Mr. Clean system- never heard of it before. I tried it and I think it does a good job, especially on my black CTD.

I'll have to look for this "A-Maz" you speak of. I too have had water spots on my windsheild from day one and they are only on the passenger side and even more surprising only in the arear where the wiper blade glides over the glass.

I tried that Mr. Clean car wash stuff this weekend and it worked great aside from the mist that they expect you to rinse the truck off with when you do the "Auto-Dry" mode. Took me like an hour alone just the rinse the truck off in that mode. Great product, just wish the filtered water flowed a little more heavily.

I also use the Mr. Clean. After the soap, rinse your truck with the regular rinse to get rid of the soap then use the filtered water. Much quicker...

To find A-Maz, do a search under Google.
