See signature for the truck i just got. . but my question is this:I noticed tonight the water temp stays right around 140 and doesn't move around too much once it "should" be warmed up if it moves much at all. Could this be a thermostat issue? Thanks for the help!

check your thermostat out, sounds like it is stuck open and not allowing the truck to warm up
Mine does the SAME thing.

What "should" the Normal Coolant Temperature be during normal driving ??

Mine will never go above 190 and fluctuates down to around 160 or so. You can tell when the thermostat is working properly, mine will travel to 190, than drop down suddenly and go up and so on.

My thermostat was working properly. It cycled from 150 to 190. On a trip to OR it stopped the cycling and stayed at about 140. I pulled the thermostat. Here's what I found. I replaced the thermostat. The new one cycles like it is supposed to.

Joe. . so is it safe to say the thermostat is still in working order, just needs that new inner and outer gasket for it?Thanks for the pic, that REALLY helped out so when i go in there i know what i am looking for!

its best to just replace the whole thing. Its not that expensive to give yourself the peace of mind that it is brand new and will be fine
