Might be a stupid question but what is the Water Valve on the heating hose do. I had noticed some fluid come out of it this morning when I started the truck. Do I need to replace it?

I believe it opens and closes the coolant flow through the heater when you want it... . I noticed a wiff of coolant the other day when I went from the off position to the on position when running down the highway, I have not checked as it went right away, and I have never seen drips on or around it(if Im lucky it was the car I was following)... I have had vehicles with valves that leak occasionally when cycled, if it leaks continually I would replace/repair it.

The valve is vacuum controlled by the heat/ac selector buttons. The flow of coolant to the heater core is shut off when the "off" or "max ac" buttons are pushed. The valve is open in all other positions. There is a part number posted for the replacement valve in this thread: https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=62558

If you don't want to replace it, just put a piece of heater hose in its place and cap off the vacuum line. This will only slightly reduce the performance of "max ac".
