My original coolant pump failed at 95k miles. Dealer said that they put a NEW $350 + labor pump on mine. I paid the $100 deductible. Seems these pumps should last longer than 95k miles -- if it's a $350 pump.
I've seen the rebuilt pumps out there for normal prices. Old pump changed [leaked] my original coolant over many miles. I was out-of-town and did not smell nor see leaking coolant. I was due the coolant change anyway, so I got the coolant changed for free with the replacement pump!
Update this is a replacement one from NAPA, the last one lasted 7000 miles. The first one I put on yesterday 10 times and could not get the two holes to align. Just got another one today will try it tommorrow when its light.
That pump should be between $60 and $100 from Cummins. It is held in with 2 bolts, and the most difficult part of changing is disconnecting the serp belt. It is a 15 min job at tops (including putting the anti-freeze back in the radiator).
Mine has just started leaking a bit . Did research and bought a Gates new unit not reman. The cummins stuff is reman and don't have a good history of lasting . When changing out do you pull the fan and shroud ?
