Hi, I just got laid off of work, so thought maybe I would have some time to wax my truck. In the past I have always used meguiars. I would like to here some other opinions. Thanks, joe

Mequiars has always been my personal choice. After I wash the truck I go over it completely with Final Inspection. . They now call it Quick Detailer, then I use the wax.

The Quick detailer also works great to remove bug splats and road tar.

Salt, salt and more salt.

Michigan highways are covered with salt in any month with a "r" in it so a good wax job is important. I have been happy with Zymol cleaner wax. It is available at most KMarts for about $13. I find that 2 or 3 wax jobs a year keeps the dreaded Michigan road cancer at bay. I have used it sucessfully on a 1988 BMW that is totally rust free and my 2002 Wrangler is still showroom shiny. I hope I can report simular results for my truck.

I use Meguires wash and wax products on the truck throughout the summer. The Deep Crystal Wash does not remove the wax. Turtle Wax-Bug and Tar Remover also helps clean things up. 1st thing in the spring I use the Cleaner Wax, then add Gold Class paste wax two to three times between spring and fall. I use the Gold Class liquid wax to maintain it in between paste wax applications, and use the Quik Wax and Quik Detailer at the Show-N-Shines and cruise nights. Eagle One-All Wheel and Tire cleaner on the wheels and Mother's-Mag Wheel Polish to shine them. Westley's-Bleach-White to clean the tires and keep the raised white letters, well white. All the exterior plastic, vinyl, and rubber trim as well as the tires get shined up with Eagle One-Tire Shine. The windows get cleaned with Eagle One-20/20 Auto Glass Cleaner and treated with Rain*X when I have the energy. And finally the chome gets polished with No. 7-Chrome Polish. However in looking at my step tubes after last winter, I might change chrome polish. Next of course there is the interior... .

I gotta get a life... . :-laf

I've been using Meguire's NXT wax. It seems alright, but I want something more durable. Is the Zaino stuff really durable?

I have tried many waxes in 35 years. The Zaino's is the best I have found so far. I guess you really need to try it and determine it for yourself.

with Zaino it's also about the application/removal effort. I just put 3 coats on my truck this Sat. No severe rubbing to remove very unlike the Dupont Teflon car wax I used on my camaro. If a product is easy to remove, you'll probably be more likely to spend the time needed to put it on, about 45 min for each coat of Zaino.

Depends on the color. Zaino for the Black '96, lemon Pledge. Yes, THAT lemon Pledge on the Almond '04. I've been using the lemon flavored pledge for a long time on a fabric airplane, and '89 Sahara Tan Montero... There have been a lot of reasons given for not using this product, but that Montero looked new when I traded it in... (last year).

hmm, i guess i would have to wash my truck before i waxed it eh?... hasn't been touched by soap & water in like 4 months [only gets like 3-4 washes per year]

A military officer who doesn't wax his truck???

What's up with that? ;)

I'd be more likely to do it if I thought it would offer significantly more protection from an IED by the road:)

So, whats the difference between professional polishes and consumer polishes? The Zaino looks like good stuff, I like the idea of easier application. Meguires also has a line of "professional" products. I am just wondering what the real difference is.
